94 J25TELERC Low speed operation

I recently retired from 20 years of service in the Army and have bought my first boat. Unfortunately, in my rush to get on the water before opener, I wasn't very thorough in my inspection and selection process. I have had the CDI power pack and fuel pump replaced and I am now having problems keeping the motor running at trolling speed. Like I said I am new to owning a boat and am not very mechanically inclined. Any advice on what I may be able to do to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First off, thank you for your service.
Now, on to your problem, have you tried to adjust the low speed needle valve to see if it would idle better?
Have you checked the compression, what is it?
What plugs are you running, what shape are they in?
