working on a seadoo gtx. water got in the box and ruined the solenoid. got that fixed and there is no spark. replaced module with known good part. checked cdi and stator wires using ohm meter, all within spec. also checked lanyard switch. all seems ok.
Am I overlooking something simple? where should I go next?
any advice appreciated.

Re: 94 gtx no spark

water in the front box could have corroded the ground connections and the coil can't work remove them from the bolt clean them and do a continuity test to the battery ground be sure they are making a connection all the way to the battery, also the kill switch on the handlebars may be shorting out you can just un plug that and see what happens, and the lanyard switch could also be shorting out and the old issue with the ground from the battery to the starter could be causing troubles.

thanks Jeff.
I was going down the trail of a bad electronic component, being ruined by the water. but the ground thing makes a lot of sense. will try the tests recommended.

and you should pull all the wire harness connectors and clean them use some silicon grease and reconnect them if they look green or worse you need to get them clean the older skies are notorious for corroded pin connectors I use a tiny roto tool and clean the heck out of them some are so bad I have had to remove the pins and use wire nuts to reconnect the wires put some dielectric grease in the wire nut and twist the wires together especially the ground wires those are usually black color coded I have found some that had disintegrated inside the coating and a continuity test is the only way to check if the wire is any good.

Re: 94 gtx no spark

Well I totally disassembled the box, even sanded down the aluminum mounting plate to make sure had a good ground. none of the connectors are corroded, but I cleaned them all anyway. cleaned the main ground cable at both ends as well as both ends of positive cables. I pulled connectors for both kill switch and lanyard and found no problems with any of the components, all very clean and working well. pulled both mpem fuses and cleaned blades, tested them, ok.

I don't have a Fluke meter, but mine is not a real cheap one, and I am getting good readings on all of the components, is the ohm meter method of testing components reliable? The clymer manual mentions that sometimes coils are bad even if they read good. The dealer told me that seadoo coils rarely if ever fail. Should I just take it to the dealer and have them use the seadoo ignition tester? Or can you give me any last chance advice. I like the challenge of fixing things myself, but this one is getting me down.
thanks

Re: 94 gtx no spark

you need to do an ohm test on the coil there are 2 tests if it checks ok and the stator checks ok then it will get problematic could have broken the flywheel key and put the flywheel out of time, if water was in the engine and you were hitting the starter hard it is a possibility
