Hello this will be my first post and hopefully you guys can help me out

so ill start off like this

bought this boat about a 2 months ago site on seen pouring rain etc etc.. get the boat home and am in such a rush to use it never get it serviced which i knew better to do and lower unit seized up.. long story short 3500 bucks later have a brand new lower unit.. no issues so far have been using it quite a bit till the other night when i had my next issue..

friends fathers boat broke down so was on my way to get him cruising along not really horsing it but cooking along was late at night so all of a sudden the boat skips and revs like it popped out of gear. im like great more issues.. so i bring the throttle back to neutral and back to forward and it goes into gear so im like hmm so i start to take off and about when i get to 2000 to 2500 rpms and does it again .. again was able to put it back to drive but only was about to get 7 mph out of it..

so first question is what would cause this????

next just my luck since i was putting i was trying to stay close to shore in case boat died.. up comes two little islands in which i stayed in middle keep in mind im only doing about 4 to 5 mph at this point watching my depth gauge and it went from 10 feet to 2 in about a second.. naturally prop all bent up which isnt such a worry but the fin on the lower unit it now bent.. what will this cause me for issues driving etc and is there a way to fix it without it just snapping off cause it almost looks like cast alum?

thanks in advance

The first problem could be the drive was trimmed up too far?
Or the prop hub was spun(more likely)

The bent skeg.It affects the track and steering.
Try a wood block and a 3# hammer.
Go slow and easy on it.
Heating it up will only cook the oil and possibly ruin the seals.
You have a prop repair shop close?
Take it to them.

Pretty common to damage your prop hub when you strike something. Google can tell you all about it...so can a quick search on this forum.

For $3500 I hope you got some kind of warranty. I'd take it back to the guy who did the work or take him for a ride.

The ammoint of work tgat he had to do from how bad i seized it up well for the 3500. The problem i have with calling them is the fact that if i brought boat to em they would see bent skeg and know i hit bottom and immeditaely they would figure that cause it not matter what i said

What do you mean by "the boat skips..."? Did it come out of the water like you hit a log or something? You may have damaged the drive and prop then. Did you put eyes on it after that or just put it back in gear and drive away?

You can straighten the skeg, do it slowly, but the prop will have to go to a prop shop.

You should check the prop shaft for runnout, you may have bent it.

Remove the prop, scribe a line across the inner hub and then go for a ride.
See if the line has moved.Line moved= spun hub.
They might be able to rehub.
