Last season, I (we) hit a sandbar and the engine "free revved" (RPM's shot up real high and kill switch wouldn't work). Only way to get the engine to back down was to get it off the sandbar.
A few trips later, I was clearing out the insides by starting it in the parking lot after pulling it out of the water, and it free revved again. This time, I almost panicked (no water nearby), but eventually turned the gas off.
I did a heavy Seafoam treatment last season (to get rid of any carbon), but that didn't seem to help. Also, blipping the throttle doesn't do anything but rev it up more! Carbs are tight against the intake, and I replaced gaskets last season (thinking those where the culprit).
Now, every time I start it out of water, it does this. Only reason I start it outside of water is to make sure it'll run OK when we get down to the ramp. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I just need to lake test it?
