Here is my situation, I just bought the boat and motor. 1994 21' ProLine cc with a 94 200 Ocean Runner. After replacing the regulator she is charging and runs great but, I'm only getting 500 rpm's at WOT.
The prop is ss 14x19. At WOT she runs about 42. Here is the stickler when I use my t-light the 2 bottom cylinders don't seem to be firing until the engine gets to about 1200 rpm's. It looks like the primary coil wire on both of these is fairly rusted. I have cleaned the them the best I can. I have bought 2 new ends and boots but have not yet tried to replace them. Is it possible that the current is only getting through when the engines rpm's get to the 1200 mark or is that the way they are made.

Once you get the running issue under control, shoot for 5800 RPM @ WOT.

i suggest checking your spark with a spark tester, rather than a timing light. just test it in the driveway, it will tell you if you have a spark problem. one that is adjustable http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/THE-404.html you spark should be bright blue, and jump 7/16 inch.

OK, I have tested with a spark tester and only get intermittent spark. Is there a way to test the primary feed to the coil? If so how do I do this?
