Hi all I'm sure it's been asked before but is an Ldrive lower unit think its 89 125 hp interchangeable to my 94 120hp force? Everything looks the same shaft length and number of splines etc the only differences I can see are the water intake is on the bullet and exhaust comes out of the port below the cavitation plate opposed to the prop and dodgy looking impeller housing setup has no stainless inner sleeve can get one cheap so thought I'd ask the question ..appears that force gearboxes are rare as rocking horse poop here in Australia.

Yes it should work as long as your 120 is a 1994 and not a 1995. Your 1994 lower unit should be dual exhaust (comes out prop and the snout). If your lower doesn't have the snout then you have newer than 1994. The other difference is the drive ratio. The 1994 is 1.93 and the the 1989 is probably 1.73. You might see a a little slower take off and drop about 500 rpm at full throttle. This can be compensated for with a prop if desired. The water pumps are different like you said and different impeller but work similar.

Typing from phone so might be sloppy.

As long as the 17 fits you will prob want to use that one. You will also want to use the thrust washer from the 125 lower unit as has different tapper.
