93 yamaha won't turn over

i just got a 93 waverunner 650 that i was told ran but the battery was dead. well when i charged the battery of course it will not turn over. the starter engages and tries to turn the engine over to the point that the engine rocks on the motor mounts. i pulled the plugs and the pistons are not moving when the starter tries to engage. i put some liquid wrench in the cylinders and it did not loosen up. any ideas other than a complete teardown?

odds are it's the pump locked up and not the engine,, pull off the pump and see if the engine runs without it,, if so you need to replace the pump liner section of the pump,, they corrode and swell locking the impeller .

will be easier if u loosen the motor mounts and side the motor foward
i have seen pump and motor siezed 50/50

remove ride plate
then u need allen metric sockets
the pump is a pain in the but to get out

you can actually turn the coupler and see if the pump side moves or the engine side moves, it won't move a lot but it will move enough to tell you what is locked up,, keep in mind I personally do not work on skies nor have I ever worked on them for people or for hire. I honestly could not afford the pay cut , my income tax alone is close to 100k a year.. but that in no way means I don't know about fixing skies.

that is why u remove he engine bolts, 4 of them
u then can slide the motor that 1" needed to turn the couplers
it is the better way
i have been doing this for over 15 years
i love working on ski's, e-z $ in my pocket

there you go,, I turn down work on skies constantly ,, I just work a few days a week in my shop building steering units, and ride my skies the rest of the week,,

even a seadoo pump which is e-z still a pain

re.the pump ,if you look in the pump from the rear or from under the ski you can usually see the liner making contact with the impeller, and those older ones had a lot of aluminum impellers,, if it has an old aluminum impeller you really need to upgrade to a stainless impeller,, makes a big difference on performance.

hi again,
ok i moved the motor forward, way easier than pulling the pump. the engine is NOT locked up. so i'm guessing it is the pump. this ski evidently sat in the water for an extended period of time as the hull is covered with barnacles. do you think the pump needs cleaning or should i look for a new/rebuilt/used pump? what other model pumps will fit in the ski? where can i get one?

www.jetkingparts.com he has used pumps
but now you need to pull the pump anyway!!
