Can anyone tell me why the cylinders are filling with oil? Engine is hard to atart after it sits for a couple of days. Once I get it to kick over it dumps 4-5 ounces of oil out the exhaust then starts. Once it starts it smokes for about 5 seconds and clears. It then starts before I have a chance to let go of the starting button. It will start like this all day long.

it's a bad seal in the rotary valve compartment, it will require a new crank and new rotary valve seals very common problem with sea doo rotary valve engines, the oil leaks from the rotary valve area in to the other chambers of the crank shaft area because the crank is pressed and the seals are not accessable without a considerable amount of machinery and talent I would just pull the engine and rebiuld it or do a engine exchange through s b t or just run it till it quits running but the seals are bad.

I have the same issue with my 95 tigershark, oil in the cylinders if sitting too long. I took the plugs out, stood back, and turned it over - shot oil 3 feet up!, cleaned plugs, and away it went.

Was told the same story - engine rebuild. I think I came up with a cheap solution.

Went and got two small shut off valves and put them in the oil and gas lines. That way I turn off the valves when the thing is sitting overnight or long periods of time ( over winter). I just open them back up when I want to use the thing, and it starts immediately each time!

I put the valves in last year and its been working great! I put two valves ($2 each)into the lines to ensure that both gas and oil are shut off (don't want to turn the jet ski on and forget to turn the oil on!). That way, if I forget to turn them on, can't go to far.

Its also prevented my ski from getting stolen - I found my ski floating off my dock one morning -looks like they did not get far!

It is a little bit of a hassle opening up the seat to get at the valves, but it beats the cost of an engine rebuild!

Just my 2 cents worth!

it isn't like any other engine, your ski uses reed valves and your carbs were probably leaking or you had a bad oil pump, sea doo uses a rotary valve in his engine and the center of the engine is full of oil it is seperated by a crank seal on both sides of the rotary valve compartment, he can go to pre mix and empty the oil out of the rotary valve compartment, then replace it with a 40 weight oil and some seal conditioner, that can be a help to this problem but it is only a temporary fix.
