93 mariner, 135, head bolt lbs?

I need to know the head bolt torques....and is it right for the ground cable to spark when removed from the battery when nothing is on? And I installed an old battery to my starting system I have two batteries,,,,But my voltage reg burned out ,,after installing the old battery....it charged fine on a battery charger....could the battery have caused this to burn out ,,,or just bad luck ..it was going anyway....Thankyou..... wondering

1. Head bolt torque is 30 ft lbs plus 90 degrees. Torque it to 30 then go another 1/4 turn. It works out to about 34lbs.

2. Spark at battery. If it's an EFI motor there might be a small spark otherwise no, not unless you have an always on accessory like a stereo that needs constant power for it's memory. Of course if you have it hooked up backwards it will spark and probably blow your rectifier/regulator.

3. Batteries won't blow a regulator/rectifier unless you hook them up backwards. A bad regulator will usually burn out to an open state. Was your battery not charging before?

4. Bad luck... Always been a believer that you make your own luck or mistakes as the case may be... It's lucky when you learn from your mistakes.

Thanks for the torque..settings...........and no I have not wired anything backwards... It was just odd that I just put this battery in ,,and the voltage reg. went out. And I will have to volt meter my wires to see what is pulling some current, it is not fuel injected, and no radio......I will check.....Thank you
