i recently purchased a 1990 bowrider with a 93 johnson 225 oceanrunner on it. when i purchased boat the hot light would come on a WOT and buzz for around 5 seconds then buzzer would go off but light would stay on till you backed off the throttle. Ran the boat 7 or 8 times on the river plenty of power towed great everything. Now i took it to a buddy's house (mechanic) too look at the light issue because the guy i bought it from said it was coming on because of the controls and tachometer (which includes all warning lights in it) are bombardier from a jet boat! different operating temps he said. Well boat sits up for around 3 to 4 weeks buddy never has time to look at it well i pick the boat up and head to the water. First it wont start! Started every time the first time until it sat up! first off the bubble was getting hard but then would get a little soft after trying too start kept pumping and trying to start. Finally starts so i idle to the no wake buoy go to give it throttle just dies out like no gas or too much pump bubble it starts but wont really go faster than idle without dying out! Oh and another thing now the hot light and buzzer come on the second it starts up but the pump is peeing strong enough to push my hand back and the water coming out is lukewarm at best! so now i have two problems Can anyone help! I think i need to change the fuel lines and filters from engine too tank they are the ones that were on it when i bought it and then if that fixes the problem going what gives on with the light and buzzer? Any help is appreciated ! Thanks!

It sounds like you have a few problems going on there. First the temp senser is on the motor, I don't know what that has to do with which controls you are using. I don't think the temp limit is set by the control. I would get that straightened out before running it before you cause some real damage.

When you get the hot light put your hand on the heads and see if they are hot. If so, you need new thermostate, waterpump or both. If not, remove the temp sender on the heads and check 'em with a meat thermometer. Put the thermo in a metal pan and put it on the stove and turn on the heat. Put an ohm meter on the sender lead and the other side on the sender's case, or the pan. When the heat reaches about 170 degrees, the sender should short to ground.

BTW, all the alarms are caused by the senders shorting to ground whenever they detect overheat, low oil, no oil or no gasoline. A manual would help you with the wiring checks....
