Hi everyone.
I have a 93 Johnson 200 (vj200sletc) on a 20' nitro bass boat. Here's the problem and I'm hoping that some of you might be able to help me out. What always happened was when I would get through a no wake zone and try to go WOT it would bog down then After a few seconds it would take off. Also whenever I tried to power load on the trailer 9 times out of 10 it would stall. I figured that there was a problem with the carbs since they leaked a little, so I rebuilt all 6 to the Johnson manual specs. I also installed a new vro2 pump since it also leaked a little. After doing that my vacuum switch started spraying gas so I replaced that as well and it got a new fuel filter too. So after doing all of that I took the boat out and to my surprise it was harder to get on plane than before top end worked great. Also at the ramp I always beach the boat and use the motor to back off but this time it kept stalling on me which it never use to do. It also would not power load. The only thing I noticed was the primer bulb had become soft. So I replaced that with a johnson one thinking maybe it was faulty and was letting air in. I took the boat out this past weekend and it acted up even worse than before. This time every time I tried to put it in gear and give it just a little throttle it would stall. It would continue to do this for a few starts then it worked fine until I shut it off again. I have checked the timing and everything seems fine. A few of the spark plugs were a little black so I got some more but haven't put them in yet. I also checked for spark on all cylinders and they look good. Also compression is between 96-100 on all cylinders. I just don't understand how it's worse now than it was before I did all the work. I have also done the whole link and sync process last year i didnt do it after the carb rebuilds because I never removed the throttle bodies. I will recheck that. All these parts are omc. Last year a also replaced the stator. If some could help me solve this mystery I would greatly appreciate it.
