I just bought a boat with this 15 hp Johnson outboard on it, and I believe its starving for fuel.

I started it up in my driveway with water muffs, and it started second pull like usual.

After it started, it died and wouldn't restart. The primer bulb was hard, but no fuel sprayed when I disconnected the line at the outboard.

I depressed the ball in the fuel disconnect, and got no fuel then, and the primer bulb was still hard.

After moving the line around, I got the bulb back to normal, and the engine started after I reconnected the line.

Seems its time for a new line, but is there anything else i need to check?

If the fuel bulb has an arrow need to prime it till firm while pointing it upwards. Open the tank's air vent if having one.. Check all fuel filters are immaculate clean for a smooth fuel flow from tank to carb while priming the bulb.

Happy Boating

Bought a new fuel line, but unlike the old one, this one wont prime at all.

Old one primes easily, but the ends leak. New one wont prime. What in the world?

What kind of fuel line did you buy ?-----And have you checked inside your fuel tank for any leaks on the pick up tube ?

I haven't checked inside the tank, I have verified that the tank doesnt leak externally. Only the outboard end of the old line leaks.

Also, I bought an omc fuel line.

Some plastic tanks are known to have issues INSIDE them.-------So test with another tank.----Borrow one from a friend !

Tank is actually an old metal one, so rust and such are possible issues I haven't looked at just yet.
