93 bayliner jazz please help me gremilins in the jazz

i got a 1993 jazz jet boat and it is two days old to me and the family though me ,my boys and a friend would take her to the river for a shake down test.we have had LOTS of rain and the river was moving pretty good so we went up river for about 5 miles when all of a sudden the motor stopped

i could no get it going again so we driffed back down river for about an hour got her home and the motor would turn one way but not the other (by hand no plugs in) we looked in the pump then we found it the bearing in the trans. was gone all that was left were the races. alot and i do mean alot of nasty water came out along with parts of the bearing.

now for the help i need
1. i can get a bearing but want to replace them both ,how do you get the one off the top gear?
2. it would apear that the oil line (where you put oil in at) has a hole in it so how offten does the tranny need work

3. where can i download a manual at?(ksymons@woh.rr.com)
4. are these things that problematic or was this just a gremlin in the works and she will be smooth sailing from here on out

Hey Joe-sorry for your bad luck. As for questions, I pm'd you a link to dl the manual, you'll see in there how bearing removes on 5-10 in great detail so that's questions 1-3. not sure what you mean by this:

Gear oil is filled/changed through bottom plug removal, pull vent plug also.

Wild guess would be the boat you bought was possibly put away in fall with water in gear oil, cracked-froze pulled something open to let all that water in...inspect it carefully. Mention that for question #4, the gears/pumps are not a common problem area in SJ's....find out how water got in before proceeding.
