Watched a couple of U-tube videos on how to by-pass the oil injection system on my 1993 75 hp Marine. All they do is disconnect they wires from the oil sender in the oil tank and remove the oil pump drive shaft. Then Plug/cap the oil lines to the fuel and oil pumps.

Questions to everyone here. If I do this, will the motor go into slow mode, if it is present on this motor? Is slow mode on this motor? I don't think so. Is there anything else I need to disconnect electronically when removing the oil injection?

no slow or guardian mode on this engine...only hot and low oil level alarm.

Why would you disable it? That is a very good oil injection system.

Its a 26 year motor, still factory everything, with a plastic oil drive gear internal to the motor.

To me it is not if it will fail, it is when will it fail.

I rather it never fail, as a little more time sent filling up and pre-mixing the oil/fuel is a very small guarantee that the motor will not leave me 10-20 miles off shore without a motor.

I am still waiting on the service manual, should be in later today. But last night I pulled the oil tank, and disconnected the tank sensor wires, also have the temp switch pulled from the alarm circuit and the alarm is still ringing. There are still three white'ish wires hooked up to where the ground side of the alarm. Are these coming from the voltage regulator or something? and that is causing my alarm, or is there something else that needs to be disabled with regards the oil injection side.

I did my 2002 90 triple after it passed 10 years.....just decided to do it. I unscrewed the oil pump having to remove one hose to get it out, reached in and pulled the geared shaft out and put the hose and screws back,,,,did nothing else....was on my way. I did write on the transom the pre-mix ratios so that I wouldn't forget to add oil to the gas. Had about half a tank of oil on the engine at the time and left it (so I didn't have to diddle with the low oil alarm...just decided to do it that way.... and don't recall it ever changing). Didn't look back. Engine in use by local Fire Rescue Unit this day.

Fast forward. Current boat, recent purchased, used, is also a 2002 and I just decided to leave it be. Why? No reason, just have more confidence in the system than I had back in 2012 time line.

Very seldom the oil pump itself will fail. More the lines and fittings that do it.
you’ll need to cable tie the float level alarm up or leave the tank full. Just remove the driveshaft and put it back together. 50-1 mix. All good.
