Hi guys.. First off I appreciate any direction you can give me..
Let me start with some back story..
Got the boat not running, oil full of water and what seemed to be bad everything.
What ive done and in the order it happened
I pulled the Head and had and reworked it, replaced head gasket, used old pushrods, springs, and rockers as they looked fine.
replaced Manifold and riser with Mercruiser parts. welded a bracket for alternator and throttle linkage to bolt up. of course replaced all associated gaskets.
replaced carb with used ebay carb with all new parts.. FI is more my style but i know enough to be dangerous with a carb.
replaced Distributor pickup and ign module with the "Car" equivalent from oreilly's.. s10 parts i think they were. also replaced plugs, cap, rotor.
Yesterday morning I had this thing Running 90%.. bogged a little when snapping full throttle but shortly caught up with itself. I had it running best with air/fuel screw 5 full turns out.. seemed high but it worked.. I have no reference for ign timing as all of the marks are gone from the pulley and motor mount but like i said it was running great for a couple hours. took it about 2 miles out and back full throttle and got all my shift linkage back on par.. shifting good, and where it is supposed to.. idling ok.. then out of nowhere it died at an idle. .. since then it doesnt even try to start.. just cranks and cranks.. I have since tried to replace the plugs again.. Checked spark, and fuel.. getting both... tried starting with carb and choke cleaner with no change.. it still sounds like it has compression.. its not starting like a car does with broken timing belt or anything.. everything seems normal other than it wont run.. again i appreciate any advice.. sorry for the long read but i wanted to give as much relevant info i could. thanks!
