I have a question regarding the WOT rpms. I have seen it stressed several times on how important it is to have a set up to get the correct rpm at WOT. My question is what is the proper method to achieve the rpms. My motor hits about 4800 to 5000 rpms without trimming the motor. The more I trim the highr the rpms get. At about 5200 to 5400 rpm the motor is really trimmed quite a bit and my speed is usually about 2 to 3 mph faster than the rpms (5200 = 54mph). When I first purchased the boat the motor was up one notch higher than it is right now I dropped it to install a water pressure gage so I could get an accurate reading. Should I go ahead and raise it another inch? Will raising the motor just an inch help that much? The prop is a Viper 21 pitch. The boat has a good holeshot and performs well so I really dont want to change props.I have no doubt I can get the rpms close to 5800 if I want to trim it more but it may be a little tough to handle with that much boat out of the water.
