Hey all! So I have a 92 mercury xr6 150 outboard that is not getting spark. I have used a test light and found that the kill switch is fine. I found out that the coil packs are not getting juice what so ever (the coil pack grounds are solid). I trace the coil pack wires back to the switch boxes and found that the switch boxes are not giving the coils any juice. Does the stator power these switch boxes? If I have a bad stator would it cause the coil packs not to fire? Thank you for reading this and any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

The stator does power the switchboxes. The CDIElectronics web site will have a troubleshooting procedure for your ADI Ignition.

You did disconnect the killer wires (black/yellow) from the two switchboxes, right? That is the first test, to make sure the spark killer wires are not inadvertently grounded to the block.

Thank you sir! I did not disconnect the killer wires. With the kill switch in the run position I used my test light to check the kill switch wire at the switch box when cranking the motor. My test light illuminated, then I cut the kill switch to the off position and repeated the process and my test light did not illuminate. Does that mean the kill switch is working properly?
