92 merc tiller throttle help

Any chance a tiller handle guru can make a call and help with a few questions pm me. I have 92 3 cyl 2 stroke and tillers are kicken my clinton.


Currently got one off ebay. Shifter is adjustable and fine
But throttle cable is not right?

Need a serial# off of the motor.

And its a 4 cyl not 3. If i remember right it is od152163. I got the one from ebay on, And my terms might be off with this explanation but i will try. I think the last tiller I had on which was for a 75hp+ motor would get the throttle arm top screw all the way to the stop plate on the side of the motor, Now the tiller that I got off ebay said it came off a 50hp two stroke (mine is a 40) doesnt get that top screw all the way to the plate with the handle throttle all the way turned? Not sure if it till open up all the way once in the water moving?

From what i see when looking up the serial number this was a tiller jet model? what do you think?

If the carbs appear to be opened up all way at wot, does that position of that top screw matter? I should be able to get the boat out sunday to test it out.
