Ok I have a 92 115 HP Mariner, A couple of weeks ago I was in a cove fishing. Decided to come back to the docks and when I went to start it wouldn't do anything. I jumped started the motor at the starter soleniod, I was thinking it might have been the neutral safety switch because it did this once before.....but once I moved the throttle around the motor started. I replaced the neutral switch and still nothing. I tried to start again from starter solenoid and it would start just as easy as it always should....of course I don't want to start it that way more than I need to. Once I did start it that way, I shut it off and then tried to start it by the key and...NOTHING. I am so confused at what to look for to see what else could be the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

there is a wire on your starter solenoid somtimes it is marked with an "S" have sombody turn the key to see if you are getting voltage to this wire on the solenoid when the key is turned. if yes then you have a bad solenoid. if no, check the fuse if its ok then trace the wire back to key switch and check for voltage at every break/connection between the solenoid and switch until you show voltage. when you find the place with voltage on one side and nothing on the other you have found the problem.

Thanks, I will do the test tonight. If the soleniod was bad would you still be able to jump start from the soleniod?
