Hi folks, Thanks in advance for any help for this frustrating problem. Over the summer after a good day of jet skiing, I put the hose to the fresh water flush hose on the top of the engine. After a few starting tries the engine acted like it was freezing up. I took out the plugs and turned over the engine and my fresh water shot out of the both cylinders with force. I finally had time to tear down the engine, All I found was minor blockage in the cooling passages (salt water used) but no evidence of gasket failure. I put the engine all back together with new gaskets and torqued all the bolts and nuts. Final compression readings was 142 and 148 psi. Well long story short, I tried to start it tonight and same problem. Please help! Thanks again.

boy did you screw up!!!!! NEVER turn on the hose when the engine is not running you hydrolocked the engine and can destroy it, also you should remove the head and surface it and use a new head gasket when you re assemble it or the gasket will leak and destroy the rings and pistons, get all the water out of the crank case fast and start it to dry it out or you will rust the crank berrings and blow the engine.

Sorry I "screwed up" but everyone I know that owns a jet ski hooks up and turns on the fresh water hose before starting the engine. I had this jetski for five years previous and never had a problem. Could my exhaust to expansion chamber joint be clogged allowing water to backtrack into the cylinders? Just a guess. Does anyone else have a opinion as to what could cause water to enter the cylinders that has all new gaskets and excellent compression? Thank You.

sorry but the owners manual will tell you not to do it, but heck you wanted to know what you did wrong I told you, believe it or not, it's your ski ruin it if you want.don't bother asking any one about other problems that is your problem.Never have the water running when the ski isn't same for turning the watter off before stoping the engine,

Why does it matter if the ski is running when you turn the water on? Does the water actually go into the combustion chamber and burn? Why would having that engine running do anything different than the engine being off?

Is there a water pump that directs the water somewhere else when its running?

Totally new to jet skis picking up my first one this spring, thanks.

-John

All of Jeff Walkowiak's advice was correct for me. I don't know why it matters, I turned the water on first for aleast 2 years before I had any problem. But from now on for me 1. Start engine 2. Turn on water.

Its not good enough for me to just do what im told, I want to know how and why things work the way they do, I have never been to a mechanic, knowing how things work sure makes it easier to fix.

with the exhaust pushing the water away from the enmgine it can't get in to the crank case no exhaust pushing it away it goes straight in to the case then it gets in the combustion chamber because 2 stroke engines draw the fuel through the crank case before it gets pulled in the combustion chamber, with the engine off" NO EXHAUST PREASURE" and since 2 strokes are ported to the exhaust some can go directly in to the cylinders depending on the position of the piston at the time.

No problem ,that is probably the first fatal sin of a jet ski owner, followed closely by taking off in shallow water and sucking up sand and weeds in to the cooling system and plugging up the water passeges in the engine and exhaust system and the design of kawasaki water boxes usually has them about half full of sand and dirt, also they plug up the cooling hoses a lot by the jet pump.

I just purchased a '92 750SS Kawa. Can someone anyone tell me or better yet point out to me on maybe a little diagram, where the flushing port, hose is connected? I just read that it is on top of the engine but where???

Thanks in advance,
Allan

Go to Kawasaki site and get the blow ups of the engine (parts) and it will show the hose for cooling hose.

https://www.kawasakiepc.com/SResult...ssReturnDesc=&ssTargetFrame=Results&cGroupID=

click on cylinder head... 92005 is the Tee.

There are two hose connections on the head. The one closest to the front of the machine should have a tee fitting in it with a rubber cap on it. This is the connections.

As for the hydro locking issue (water in the cylinder) here is a problem I had when first starting jet ski at home.

There was water in the exhaust and I had the machine tilting towards the nose and not in an level position so all the water was trapped at the riser. When water turned on it would go back in cylinder.

Was a rookie and I learned. Now make sure machine is level and only turn water on just after as it starts.

Not an expert but thught I would share my experience

Re: 92 kawasaki 750 jet ski (sit down)

Thanks BillBayliner! Found the port connected the hose and went to start the engine before turning on the water and..... it turns over fine but I am not getting any gas to the engine. Just filled up with gas today after it had been winterized. Plenty of gas, fresh oil, good spark but no gas to engine or even fill the fuel filter up??? Any suggestions?
