 Started the year great until I performed some maintenance. I changed the 10 yr old VRO, red pulse limiter, fuel line/bulb and replaced the plugs.
Conditions: 1)compression 110psi all 6 cylinders
2) OMC 3/8" fuel line/bulb
3) new champion plugs
The motor ran fine on flush device, but when put in the water it spits and dies at idle. The motor runs great on top end 5600rpm with no missing.

I suspected Carbs or something related to the new VRO so I took it to the shop. They said the VRO was fine but the carb float bowls were warped.

The shop ordered all 6 and replaced the old black manifold and throttle body gaskets with the new brown ones. While manifolds were off, the reeds were inspected and all 6 carbs had kits, even though they appeared clean. I thought all this was just what I needed, until it had the same problem when re-assembled.

The mechanic said, " he noticed that 2 of the check valves in the mainfolds had 2 of he four ears broken off but originally did not think this would cause my poor idle." He later removed everything and replaced the check valves with some used ones out of an old junked motor. the motor ran at idle approximately 10-15 minutes in the water, he then, idles down the lake for about 10 minutes and throttled up to 5600 rpm and returned to the dock. Upon arriving at the dock the boat idle problem re-appeared and now he is telling me he will have to order new check valves and replace the used ones to fix it. All I know is the spark jumps 5/16" gap on all plugs, the compression is 110psi on all cyclinders, and the timing idle is set 6 degrees ATDC and 20 degrees BTDC for wide open throttle, the gas is new 89 octane, Vro is new with new blue pulse limiter and my boat still will not idle.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Trooper
