Hello all,

New owner of a 91' Stratos 91 Pro with a 93 200 HP Johnson. Have a couple of questions.

Every where I look for boat covers etc it seems to want me to specify whether it's an XL or some other Suffix. The decal on the side says "201 Pro" only. So where do I identify the true model number?

Since I'm new to this boat, and it is a really slick machine compared to my other boat, any input or advice would be appreciated.

The port live well drain will not hold water, just dribbles out of the drain even with the drain **** in closed position. Is this adjustable...the valve I mean?

All or most of the toggle switches (and there are a bunch) need replacing or at least the rubber boots replaced. What is the size of the standard switch and boot on these boats?

The bezel surrounds on the guages need "help" They are fading and oxidizing. What is the best way to do this? I was thinking silicone but I'm not sure.

You gotta love this boat! Went out first time last weekend. Fish were safe wouldn't stay in one place long enough!

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Re: 91 Stratos 201 New Owner

I just picked up a 1989 Stratos 201 Pro as well. I bought it from a friend that bought an 2005 Stratos 201 Pro XL. I can tell you that both boats are pretty much the same as far as a cover would go, the main diff would be the update layout inside of the boat and I'm sure a few external changes to the design. But as far a a cover not much diffrence I would think. As far a the boots for the toggles I found them at my local Napa made by Valmar and the package reads Toggle Boot Seal Model 31292 and part number 751-1088. As far as the livewell goes, I'm not sure. I would like to know the outcome of that and the gauge solution.

Re: 91 Stratos 201 New Owner

Appreciate the feedback. The livewell issue I'm still working on. Not a biggie don't catch enough fish to need two!

The guage issue was the sending unit on the motor. If you have a Johnson 200 93 or similar motor I'll get the Part Number. You can check it by putting an ohmeter across the two wires going to it, the connector is in the engine. Should read 10-100 ohms (approx) as you move the lever. Mine was open right at the sender so I knew it was internal, but check wiring too.

I purchased the boots from here, did not think of NAPA.

Thanks for the cover info.

If you need any more help on that tilt guage let me know, I have the OEM service manual and I'll send you how to check it procedure.
