91 mariner tilt/trim

Newbie here Just bought my first boat 2 days ago 87 grumman with a 91 mariner 75 hp...took it out on the water same day I bought it...power trim worked fine in the water... but when putting the boat on trailer the power trim won't go up or down and it is not making any noise...don't know where to or what to look for...ordered a repair manual online last night...can it be a fuse a loose wire or ???? any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks Phil

Some units need the key on to function, all have a fuse most are on at the engine were the red power wire goes to the switchs that run the pump

Thanks Laddies...I tried it with the key on and off..I did find a thick red wire with a fuse in it...it looks good and it has po0wer to it...now where do I go from here?

another question ... do I have to take the nuts off the rams to tilt the motor up or is there an easier way to tilt it up so I can take to to my inlaws garage to work on it out of this stinkin rain

If you have a trim unit what has a cyl on both sides of the transom brackets then there is a pump inside the boat and on the bottom of it there is a release knob to tilt it up and if it's that type of system the problem with the pump not running is probably where the wires fot the switch plug into the pump near the solinoids

thanks again... trim unit has a cyl on both sides of the transom brackets... so I will check for that hopefully today

thanks again... trim unit has a cyl on both sides of the transom brackets... so I will check for that hopefully today

Laddies couldn't find it and it started to down pour...any ideas where I should look in the boat is it back by the gas tanks and battery or up near the front?

Follow the hoses from the cyl.
