Welcome to iboats.

How long have you had this motor?
Has it backfired before?
Backfire through the exhaust (boom) ?
Or backfire through the carb? ( whiff or sneeze like )

Backfire could have broken the diaphragm in the fuel pump, which would cause fuel to leak into the crankcase, and flood out a cylinder.

Or, the backfire could have broke the woodruff key that holds the flywheel to the crankshaft, which would through the timing off.

So, rebuild the fuel pump, as they tend to deteriorate with time.

If that doesn't fix the issue, check timing and go from there.

Also, clean and adjust carbs so it doesn't backfire and cause the same problem in the future.
