I have a 91 johnson 70hp and im getting a continuous buzz when the key is turned on and when the engine is running, which i have read is either overheating or fuel restriction. The engine runs fine in higher rpms and the temp sensor is in good working order, i dont think its a overheat issue because it constantly buzzes when its cold and hasnt been started, but when i do disconnect either wire tan or black ground from the oil tank it stops completely, was seeings if theres anyway to test the oil tank for faulty electronics or is my problem more fuel related?

Disconnect oil tank sensor and see if it stops.
There is no sensor on this model for fuel restriction.....

Back in those years they had probs with the electronics in the oil tanks doing what yours is doing. Get a new sender unit for the tank which has no electronics and just an on off switch which will cure your problem.

Check to see if the buzzer itself is defective.----Does your buzzer have a wee electronic circuit that is supposed to shut off after initial self check ?

The buzzer itself works properly, with the oil tank disconnected if i ground the overheat temp connector it will buzz. I dont think i have the self check on mine
