I realized I had water in the oil after a fishing trip. I stored the boat as usual in the car port and went back out after dinner to prepare for the next days trip when I noticed a stream of oil coming from under the cowel. So I pull the dipstick and oil comes flowing out. Pull the drain plug and here comes the water, then the oil. I put this motor on this boat brand new in '92 and have never had a problem with water getting in the oil.

I pulled the head off and there was no evident sign of a blown gasket. It has a metal gasket, but I could not see any obvious coloration anywhere. The head did not look to be damaged, and there was no evidence of water getting into the cylinders. One head bolt between the center cylinder and exaust port was caked with carbon, all others were shiney clean. I am taking the head to be tested tomorrow, and have it resurfaced. But if it comes back that the head has no cracks, and the gasket was not blown how else could water enter the crank case?

Is there a seal in the lower end of the motor that could be bad and allowing water to enter the crank case? Any suggestions on how the water is entering the crank case?

Thanks in advance for any help.

TB
