I have a Tohatsu 90TLDI and a Humminbird sidescan. Soon as revs are over a 1000rpm the sounder starts getting screen interference. It just about fuzzes out at speed. I have resistor spark plugs installed.

Before I start fiddling with the power cables etc I thought I would ask if anyone else has experienced similar problems and fixed it.

RFI interference is probably related to where and how you are drawing power to the depth finder. Make sure you are not powering anything off of the engine wiring system.

Try taking a piece of wire and powering the fish-finder directly from the battery for starters. If the interference goes away, it's in your current wiring.

barramundiman- I am not sure how much research you have done on this subject, but I can help you somewhat. Up until recently I was using a Humminbird 981c SI (side imager) along with my TLDI. Follow what everyone here is saying and check your electrical connections- it is unlikely that your TLDI has anything to do with it- BUT, most likely you have an extremely common problem that can be easily rectified by adjusting the transducer out of the bubble stream coming off of the bottom of the hull. The side imaging transducers are extremely sensitive to water disturbances coming off of the hull, thus the reason you will see so many folks run high speed transducers with the 981. 997, 797 and 1100 series units. You install a transducer switch for running the high speed transducer when on plane and then run the side imager off of plane..... I know this sounds silly, but some hulls create too much turbulance... Most times you can simply adjust the location of the transducer to cure this issue. Hopefully, you installed a transducer mounting board to you don't have to re-drill into your hull.....

JB may want to move this thread to the electronics forum...

Here is the link that you need to use with your Side-imaging transducer:

AND, here is the place to go to research your specific questions;

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sideimaging/

Humminbird tech folks answer questions on that forum so you can get the answer from the horse's mouth...

Good Luck! :)
