90hp mercury 2stroke idles but dies in gear

My outboard last year ran great and one day was going along and it just shut off.. finally got it to start and now it idles great and will run in real low speeds but as soon as you give it throttle it shuts off..please help

Seriously,, what year is the motor ? With all the info you gave it sounds like the carbs are not feeding it fuel. Link n Sync or idle jets turned out a bit come to mind.

Answering your question, it takes fuel to generate thrust; idling in N requires very little.

When was the last time you serviced your carbs? Do you have an OEM gray silicon fuel line from your remote fuel tank? If over 10 years old it can degrade releasing a tan scale that clogs up your fuel supply. I had an '02 90 that did that last year.
