I have a 90 hp merc ser# A190854 with a quicksilver 48 72500 a5 21 pitch prop mounted on a 15.6' glasscraft bass boat which is rated for max 110 hp.
1st issue - the boat planes out between 2500 nd 3000 rpms and when up to about 3500 it runs great for about 5 minutes and then the rpms go up to about 4k and the boat begins to bog down so I ease up on the throttle and go again. I thought it may have been the tilt of the motor so I have tried to make several adjustments while in the water with the same results.
Issue #2 - I was told that the oil to fuel ratio is 50:1 and that is what I have been using but the engine starts fine but when I pull the throttle back to idle to go forward it dies as I try to increase the rpms. The best way to get going is to go high rpm quickly and quickly ease back off the throttle (no wake area). Thanks for any solutions and or avdice.
You can also send replys to lpalmer@ftc-i.net

PJ in sumter
