Can anyone help me with a steering arm installation process. I can't seem to locate anything on the steering arm in the service manual (I think it's a digital scan of an OEM manual). I have disassembled and have a new upper bushing (plastic) and new seals. Installation seems pretty straight forward but a little skeptical since I haven't found any info on installation.

Two resources for reference. The factory exploded parts diagrams found at this factory website: epc.brp.com. It shows how all the steering are components go together. A handy reference. A real factory service manual covers this completely in section 5. With pictures. For a factory service manual, contact Ken Cook Co. in Milwaukee or look at their website: outboardbooks.com. Any other service manuals are not worth having, compared to the factory service manual.

Thank you for the info. The manual I have I which I am referring to says on the cover "Evinrude/Johnson Shop Manual; 48-235 HP; 1973-1989 (Includes Sea Drives). It has no info on the exhaust housing but otherwise seems to be fairly thorough. Unfortunately, I am way over extended on this build and not able to justify purchasing another manual.

Just wanted to see if there were any little installation nuances that I should be aware of since it wasn't covered in my manual.

You are not working from a factory manual. Probably an aftermarket manual which does not cover the material you need. (they are famous for covering parts of many different hp engines, but miss the unusual repairs, such as the one you are trying to do. You may find an inexpensive used factory book on ebay.
