I have a 90HP evinrude e-tec. I’m very new to the E-Tecs and I’m not sure if I should be worried about my motor pumping out hot water, no alarms come up for overheating. But the water that is pumped out, comes out hot. Is it normal?

Hot is not normal
first thing to check is the impeller old ....new.... broken up... last changed ???

Next could be a stuck thermostat but change the impeller if age is unknown

you are apparently not overheating enough and going into safe mode which is good but you need to fix this for certain before heat kills the EMM $$$$.

the impeller job is easy if you watch utube... I did mine it several times ..
complete kits are likely around $80 U$. the anode (silver block abobe the LU) does not need to be unbolted if in good shape.
Download your service manual (use the closest model year) .You did not indicate your's ! .... if a salty careful with corroded bolts on the L.U.

The ETEC owner's board is your best place to ask questions

on a long term basis you should get EV diagnostics to run on a Windows laptop .... see link on the subject.

BTW whenever removing the lower clamshell....
be VERY carefull to line things up on reassembly and NOT OVERTORQUE the bolts which would snap off the the plastic bolt retainers . A few of mine got broken by a dealer (I suspect) but I managed to fix/glue things up (another story !) . I used some star washer on the bolt heads to secure the bolts and NOT overtorque things.
