900zxi Kaw Trim Motor

I just bought a 1996 900zxi that runs great except for the porposing because trim motor did not work. I pulled motor out and of course it was full of water. got it working again and it runs both directions without the trim sender mounted when I put that on it will run only up about two revolutions and quits no down movement Tried adjusting the worm gear in different positions to find the center point but I still get the same thing. I dont have a Manual yet so what I am asking is when replacing a motor should the tilt position sensor be all the way up or all the way down or does it make any difference as long as you get full travel

I can't answer that as I have only fixed 1 kaw trim motor years ago but if you disconnect the trim cable from the nozzle and let the nozzle hang loose it will automatically go to the middle when water is coming out of it and you can ride the ski without it porpoising for the time being

Do you think the trim sensor could be bad causing it not to move up and down I dont have a wiring diagram but it looks like a potentiometer that must have stop limits on both ends. I'm thinking of trying it without the sensor mounted to see how it works. only problem is when it bottoms out in either direction it puts undue pressure on the plastic motor housing before it stops running. I may be creating more problems that I am repairing. Thanks for your help

If I remember correctly when it gets to the end it locks up the worm gear and then you have to take it out to free it up again

O.K. Two More questions. I finally got a service manual and ran the check on the Trim Angle Sensor It has a break in the winding at about level position. Question 1? Does any one know a cheaper place to order one ,other than the dealer. He wants a leg for it. Second Question? has anyone tried the Cobra Jet Steering on a 900 ZXi does it help the squirrely feeling on this model at high speeds. I thinking about ording one.
