90 kawaski TS650

hi i just recieved this 90 kawaski jet ski..i'm trying to get it runiing.. when i turn the key the starter locks up..so i check the motor and it seem okay..i can here a metal to metal locking noise coming near the impeller.. i'm trying to disconnect the motor from the shaft..can anyone give me any direction on this?? is there a special tool needed to get it off??? is so where can i get it?? thanks Erik

your pump liner is expanding from corrosion and it is holding the impeller from turning, the pump may be stuck also some get to be a real pain in the butt to pull off when the bolts get all corroded and lock the pump ears to themselves, unfortunately the liners are not replaceable and in most cases you will need to replace the entire pump housing.

Actually I heard that now they do replace the liners.

you need to pull pump to isolate the problem
