Can anyone help me with this one?
I got a 90' Johnson 90Hp V4, It have run great the whole summer, but recently it dies on RPM under 2000..I have to get it over 2000 fast or else it just dies. Sometimes the RPM goes from 5000 to 3500 a couple of secs and then up to 5000 again, without me touching any throttle.
I've tapped the carbs for what I belive was a mixture of fuel and water. But still it dies. I checked all the spark plugs too, I don't know how they should look like but they where black...
Anyone know what could be wrong?
Here's the trouble...:
Howdy, Eric. Do you have a water seperator/gas filter between your tank and engine? You need one. I believe that water in the fuel is the problem.
Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

If your plugs are black you may just need new plugs. About $5 each. If you get new ones make sure they are the right ones specific for your motor. You should be able to take them into any marine shop and some hardware shops. Ask a worker there if they think you need new ones or not.

if the plugs are black that is usually an indication that you have too much oil in your mixture or the fuel/air mixture in carb is too rich. either of these two will cause the motor to die at low RPMs

make sure you don't have too much oil in the fuel and that its not running too rich

good luck

dylan
