Hi. Situation is this. 1992 90 hp 2 stroke outboard is blowing fuses. I replace the fuse and motor trim works and motor fires up. After a few minutes under power trim will go down but not up. Then nothing. When I stop fuse is blown. Replace fuse everything works but when under power for awhile it goes again. I cleaned posts on battery. Also wiring in throttle seems fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check to make sure your fuse holder is clean and free from rust and corrosion feel the fuse after you replace it to see if its getting warm had a similiar problem on my boat replaced the fuse holder fixed the problem.

bar,

I had a similar problem a couple weekd ago. I found a stripped wire in the throttle control box where the trim wire go into the handle. Take off the box and inspect the wires.

Hope this helps,

Kid

Re: 90 HP Yamaha Blowing Fuses

Thanks for the replies. I worked on the fuse holder last night and when I turned the motor over the starter motor stayed on. When I turned off the motor it still stayed on. Had to disconect the battery to get it to shut off. I even took the key out and it still was running. Everytime the I reconnected the battery it would try and start up even though no key in ignition. I removed the relay switch and see if that is the problem. Gotta love spring maintanance.

Well turns out the solonoid was blown so I replaced that as well as the fuse holder wires, new bround wire etc. Motor runs fine but is still blowing fuses. I could not find any exposed wires in the throttle assembly. Any other potential areas that could be causing this? Regards.
