On my Johnson outboard after running the engine on ears or in water for about 5 to 15 minutes once I turn it off I have a steady alarm it will only shut down if I disconnect the vro pump harness does not turn off when I disconnect the temp harnes
*What I've done*
New updated waterpump and thermostat because I thought it was overheating
INESPECTED VRO PUMP DIAFRAMS oil side
Disconnected oil resovoir harness
Nothing works but disconnecting vro pump harness
(Vro 2 )3 wire

A steady alarm indicates an overheat situation. You may have an electrical issue with the alarm harness. I don't remember if you have the S.L.O.W system on that or not

If you took apart the oil side of VRO I suggest you replace or bypass the oil and run premix. If you still have a 3 wire vro I suggest you delete it.

A solid tone is overheating. If, by disconnecting vro the alarm stops, you have something else going on.

The manual should have the warning horn test section in it for each alarm.

its not overheating based on temp probe Im sure>
I was thinking fuel restriction because it smoking heavy but runs fine just heavy smoke
temp warning system is working fine
wiring not shorted or grounded, new buzzer,
Im leaning towards over oiling in the vro system
as I said before after running for a period of time if i shut it down I get the buzzer its steady but sound like a bird chirping really fast

If it is chirping once per second that is a lack of oil or no oil. I would do what jakedaawg said and run it 50-1 with the VRO disconnected.

Heavy smoking is a bad pump, air leak before or in pump, or fuel restriction. There is not a fuel restriction alarm on that model.

Convert to modern 4 wire vro or delete vro and run premix.

why does the alarm stop when I disconnect vro harness but not when i disconnect temp sender or harness also the pump has a tan wire which i thought was warning circuit

Because the VRO pump has a sensor with an alarm in it for no oil flow, which is the alarm you are getting. So when you disconnect the pump you disconnect the no flow alarm. The overheat sensor has nothing to do with the VRO alarm. I hope you are running this with 50-1 mix fuel in it otherwise this will be a rebuild post. I would say try bleeding the pump but once you took it apart it's not trustworthy anymore. Do what jakedaawg said in post # 4.
