Beautiful looking boat, but do you think they know what they are bidding on?

L-Drive . . . they probably do not know what they are bidding on. I'm sure they will come here so 'we' can fix it if something is wrong or goes wrong.

Ha they probably will come to these forums for info. But isn't that what these forums are all about? I think that is a great thing... The more the merrier in my opinion. Folks helping unknowledgable folks. It is what make this country great!

Re: 9 people are bidding on this

Well, I was going to say that they had better know what they are bidding on, the term "L-Drive" appears several times. As well as the word "Force".
But they I read this reply:

ok I'll bite. Not having professed to know much about boats previously I can say ....what? what are you talking about? what's wrong with what you showed?

So I'll say the 9 people bidding don't know about iboats, how to search iboats, or how to google search the term "L-Drive".

This is what the auction states:

Mechanically the boat has not been started in several years and we didn't take the time to try and get it running. Plan on doing work to the engine but you may get lucky and not have to do anything to it. We are selling the boat AS-IS with NO Warranty of any kind.

L-Drive aside this statement alone would be enough for me to pass on it.

Its a, ummm, troublesome engine and drive system.

2 stroke Force powerhead inside the boat, connected to an L-drive unit.
Only made for 3 years.
Parts are not available, unless you can get creative.
Service is pretty much not available.

To make matters worse, these boats are not set up to allow you to repower with a conventional outboard, or an i/o powerplant and drive.

Additionally, I would say a 90 hp l-drive is underpowered in this boat.

I was hoping that the bidders were only looking for parts to repair the l-drives in their garages, but the bidding has gotten a bit high for that.

Is this for sale by PT Barnum?

Plausible deniability.

roscoe: thanks for the info. was just curious as to what was the scary part. Have to tuck that one into the saved info bucket, in case I ever come across one in a boat I look at.

A fool and his money...

One of the reasons I like to sell stuff on eBay.
