Right out the side of the fuel pump! What's up with that? Replace? Rebuild? Make a new gasket for it?

And yes, I'm actually working on two Evinrudes right now. This little guy seems smooth and quiet. I just need to find a way to keep the fuel in it.

You don't say the model or year but yes fuel pumps leak. There is a complete repair kit...buy it and install.

Model no. at the bottom of post. It's a '75. Best place to get a kit? Amazon? I know some don't like that place, but I like how fast they ship and the wife has a prime acct, so saves a couple bucks on shipping.

Missed the model number, please excuse. I don't think Amazon sells you the oem part, probably Sierra.....and yes I buy from Amazon store for the same reason but I don't like them and believe it or not I'm from Seattle! They sell for less than it cost them to get rid of the competition. I'm pretty sure there's laws on the books that are supposed to prevent that. I guess we'll see what the future brings

Support your local dealer . There aren't many left and we need them to stick around.

You pay a little more for quality OEM parts, but avoid headaches, and get it right away most of the time for common parts.

Often in life, you end up paying more in the long run by trying to save an insignificant amount of money.

Used to be a good shop in W.Seattle.... I would buy a couple of cheap pumps off Amazon. Keep one in your tackle box.

Sorry. been too long. Had been there a long time, and that was in the '70s.

I'm back to working on the Fastwin again, but expect to be doing something with this one soon. I'll have to check for the cheap fuel pumps. Are they pretty much universal? Will the same pump work on the 18 HP? So far the cheapest pumps I've found have been like 80 bucks. Seems not too cheap to me.

The little square pumps were used on 3 HP models and up to the 22 cubic inch 25 HP models.-----A $7.00 diaphragm is all that can be needed to restore the pumping efficiency of these ultra reliable factory pumps.----I would never resort to buying a new one of any kind.

Thanks for the info. Guess I need to pull it apart and see what's what. Amazing how much gas is shooting out of that thing though. I'd think a bad gasket would drip not spray. There has to be a major breach.
