Re: 9.9 Mariner Water pump
Sir, the advice from the gentlemen above is sound. Before you do anything else, get a manual for your motor (got mine from a dealer, cheaper than on the internet). Some very important points that may not be in the manual: Once satisfied that the water pump needs replacement, verify that the impeller is whole upon dissassembly. If it is not, you need to find the missing pieces; when preparing to install the new pump, lay out ALL of the pieces and dry fit them before you start the repair/replacement process. Make sure you have what you need (including gasket sealer and anti-seeze compund). Replace everything that is in the kit - no shortcuts. When you install the new impeller on the output shaft, don't forget the wodruff key (quarter moon shaped piece of metal that attaches the impeller to the output shaft. When sliding the pump housing over the impeller, be sure to turn the housing so that the blades are bending back counter clock wise.

The guys are also right in telling you that it's an easy job. Take your time, check you work and it will work fine.

Case

Work is fascinating - I could watch it all day...
