9.9 honda problem

I have a 2000 9.9 Honda 4 stroke outboard that gives me a problem at full throttle. After running for about 5 minutes at full throttle, the engine will hesitate for about a second as if there might be a carb problem. It then picks right back up and runs fine for awhile longer. When it does hesitate, it leaves some engine oil smoke as if the carb has ingested some engine oil momentarily. The water pump is putting out very well and the water is not hot, so it is not an overheating problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Catfishjon

Sounds like the engine is leaning out or starving for fuel. Check the easy and cheap things first. 1 fuel tank vent open? 2 fuel lines in good shape and not collapsed. 3 fuel filter 4 fuel pump or dirt in the main jet.
You could try and squeese the fuel ball in the hose when tou think it is about to hesitate and see what happens.
Good luck

Try moving the tilt pin out another hole or two.And when is the last time you adjusted those valves?
