I have a 1984 Honda 9.9 that is leaking oil out of a seap hole in the lower unit, right above the gear case. Last year the oil fill was replaced, along with the oil filter, drive shaft seal and impellar. The fuel was run out of the carbeurator last fall. This spring I changed the engine oil, cleaned the spark plugs (they foul after 2-3 uses), changed the gear lube and took for a test run. Everything ran great, but when I put it back on the rack in the garage an oil puddle formed. Also, when I change the oil every 2-3 uses it seems like there is more oil and it smells like gas. Any ideas? I think it may need a new fuel pump, but not sure. Love this motor!

All your problems could possibly be caused by a sticky float needle in the carb.
