9.9 force year identification

thinking of buying a 9.9 force outboard, would like to know how to determine year. the model no. is 92f90a and the serial no. is 1091

Welcome to iboats.<br /><br />That must be from the days when US Marine owned Force. My info is kinda sketchy for those years, but I'd have to assume it's a 1990.
