9.9 Evinrude

1st time with this motor and looking it over saw this on the prop area with a crack in it and is there supposed to be a cone?? also that goes with it? to cover it, The other motors I have are older so this is new. Model#10724A
Serial#E0007545 Year 1975?? Just guess... Thanks All..

All the older 9.9's seemed to come with the plastic ring but there are few rings remaining. Pull yours off and don't worry about it as it will affect nothing that I'm aware of. Here is a site you should have a look at. I consider it a must read for all who have 9.9's. Best of luck. Rick.

I was always told that ring is for cutting fishing line in the water. Should run fine with out it.

The model # is the important one. Yours is a 1977. Rick.
