9.9 Evinrude Motor Identification?

Hi everyone,<br /> New user here on the site....I just bought a 9.9 Evinrude outboard motor. I found the model # and serial # stamped on the shaft. <br /> Model # 10724A<br /> Serial# C83682<br /> I found the link (german?) which explains how to dissect this info...but it seems my model # doesn't have enough letters so I'm stumped? Can anyone tell me which year, HP etc...??? Thanks very much!

Evinrude dude, Looks like a 1977 model.2 cylinder ,50:1 mix,weight 72 lbs.

That's a 1977 9.9hp Evinrude. 1st two digits (10)indicate hp, 3rd digit (7) indicates year.

Wow, you guys are fast!!!!!!! Thanks a lot guys! I live up here in BC, Canada.....this summer I plan to hit some lakes in the Caribou, do a little fishing etc....The fellow how owned it b4 me said he ran it in both salt/fresh water but the inside looks ok and it runs ok(he demonstarted it in a water filled garbage can.....). I'm going to change the 2 plugs, the oil has been changed (in the shaft), so I guess not much else to do right? Thanks again people!

Mornin' Evinrude Dude,<br /><br />You may consider preplacing the impeller in the water pump. It has to be assumed that the present impeller is old and may be cracked and deformed. <br /><br />It would be a shame for the motor to burn up as a result of neglected maintenance.<br /><br />Good Luck<br />HAVE FUN!

Klondike7,<br /> Anything else you'd recommend I should have replaced and/or examined? The motors 25 yrs + old and I'm not sure what was done on it and when! Thanks for any other tips you can give me.
