Have a 9.8 and it starts up great, idles along fine but when I put it into gear, it stalls. I tried pumping the bulb and no good. I raised and lowered the float level, still no good. Any ideas?
Bearcat ussally that is caused by the low speed needle set to lean, but if the engine has been setting around for a while stuck rings act the same--Bob
What can I do about the stuck rings? Check compression? Then what? I'll take and adjust the idle mixture screw out about 1/2 turn at a time and try it.
I have had good luck using Mercurys power tune to loosen rings, I'm sure there are other good products out there, some times doubling up on the oil mix will get you by till they loosen and some times you wind up replaceing them
Decarbonize using Merc Powertune or Johnson's version, forget the name but it works better than Mercs. After a few thermal cycles the rings should come back to near perfect condition.
BEARCAMP I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM,ON A 1984 75HP MERC, IM GOING TO TRY THE POWERTUNE BUT PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT WORKED FOR YOU. <br />DON, SANMARCOS.AGGREGATES@HANSONAMERICA.COM
