Hello,, I am going to look at a Evinrude with 5 to 10 hours. Seller says it is a 9.6 hp. motor. Can someone tell me an approximate year and if there is a 9.6 hp Evinrude. Thank You. Bess first.
The 9.5 appeared in 64 replacing the old 10 hp.
It is what I call a low profile or compact motor. Some procedures are more complicated
Than those on the old 10hp.I also believe there can be some problem with age the rubber suspension mounts failing. If its truly only 5 or 10 hours It may be many years before you have a failure.Production ran to 73 and was replaced by the 9.9 in 74. So it could also be a 9.9.
9.9 production probably ran to about 2000.
If the motor has sat for many years it may need a new impeller, and liklely the fuel syatem will need cleaning.
I would think the brand would be pretty clear on a motor with only 5 or 10 hours on it.
9.2,9.5,9.6,9.9 might not be as clear, could even be lost in time.
lol.....almost every motor i see advertised in these parts.....only has 5 or 10 hrs on it! with that small amount of run time, the motor should be prestine.....(unless it sat out behind the barn for 30 years), and there should be no doubt what it is! unless its just down the street.....you need pics.
