hi there! have 3 9,5hp engines, every one with problems. This one had a exhaustleak in the tower so I had to use it without cowl. Made a plug with silicon. The engine runs, doesnt leak, but when I try it in the water it wont start, even if it runned 5 sec ago! Big problem?

Have you tried running it in a trash can with water up to where it would normally be? Don't start it dry as your water pump will be toast.<br />All you can do is check for spark in the water and make sure that it is getting fuel and go from there.

No it was a hole in the front of the exhausttower, about 3/8. It was in over the big sealing, about 1-1,5 inch over lower unit screws. Splitted the shaft ( the body). removed everything to the powerhead and the exhausttower. Used silicon to fix the hole. The waterpumphouse is broken, could that have anything to do with it?
