9 1/2 johnson still no spark

Have 2 -9 1/2 johnsons , Not getting spark. Pulled flywheels ,filed points ,gap looks ok,I use elec drill to turn over and when I ground base of plugs I get No spark off my new plugs. I must be doing something wrong, I also looked at stickys secrets but just cant see why I have 4 coils that wont spark a plug. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try to get spark while the flywheel was off the crank?

I put flywheels back on when I tried for spark. Is there another method to check spark whithout useing spark plug?

Check your local auto parts store and see if they carry an adjustable spark checker.

Check out jbjennings link concerning point, coils and condensers. (He has a pictures of a spark tester. ( Spark tester not only lets you asses if there is spark but also the quality of the spark) Holding the plug next to the motor only lets know if there is a spark.

You should also try it with the kill switch disconnected. If they are bad they will kill your spark. There should be a couple of wire connectors about under your carb. for the kill switch. Best of luck. Rick.
