8HP Yamaha/Mariner year?

Hey fellas normally I am ok at finding years out, but I have an 8hp Yamaha/Mariner with no badging on it. From what I have learned, it was produced from 1974-1987. It is a friend of mine's and I need to order some parts but I can't do it without the year. Thanks fellas.

I have read the plug wires sometimes have manufacturer date printed on them, but not sure if that is true

Thanks Ill have to give that a look. Everything that I can find says this motor is identical to the 8HP 2 stroke Yamaha, I'm just not sure how many different models they made.
