Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I have an 8hp Nissan which I suspect is an early 90s 2 stroke B model.
It starts fine and I can see the the water from the pump coming out on the side. The problem I'm having is that it's stalling /shutting down after 4-5 minutes in the water. I've tried it at full and medium throttle and get the same results. It runs smooth, no weird noises, you can feel the acceleration and all of the sudden it stalls. I wait a couple seconds and most of the times starts right back on the 2nd or 3rd pull. I have noticed a strong gas smell when trying to start it again.
So far;
cleaned the gas filter
replaced the spark plugs
new gas mix 50:1
make sure gas tank vent is open
Noticed that on the spark plug cables, the end that plugs into the motor side have some corrosion / green oxidation.
Any feedback, suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks all the people that make this forum possible, lots of valuable information.
